The Modern Witch Reclaims Women’s Magick Power

As I am sitting here writing this and I can feel Apana Vayu. Apana Vayu is defined as the downward current of energy. From below my heart and descending down through my naval and root to my legs and feet is a pull towards the earth. While I am feeling the descending current of energy in my body I am feeling sensitive and insightful. There is a spiritual energy around me and it feels almost like I am in a cocoon or womb. 

Peace, courage, trust and surrender are filling my essence. Apana Vayu in yoga and Ayurveda is connected to the body’s processes of elimination and also the reproductive system. The new moon was yesterday and with the new moon comes my monthly cycle. I experience my moon time as a spiritual connection to myself, nature and the cosmos. It is my time to rest. It is my time to cleanse. It is my time to go within and listen to the great cosmic mother. 

Why is this spiritual and sacred awareness lost today? Why do we take Midol and stuff chemicals into our vagina and worse? Why do we have sex during the Apana Vayu flow? Not for me, no thank you. Being a woman and bleeding is beautiful and magical and MY TIME.

I think this is why we see a new fascination in girls and women with witches. Nature is calling to women, there is a whisper saying, “yes, come to me, remember who you are.” A powerful creatrix! “A creatrix is a women who is deeply connected to herself as a woman and the feminine source of creative power. She gives rise to desires, gives birth to ideas and life of all kinds.” -Wikipedia. 

I am a witch if a witch means creatrix; intuitive and wise. Witches knew about plant medicine and the natural rhythms of nature. They were doctors, alchemists, healers and herbalists. All women have magic power which scare men so I can see why the patriarchal culture would label witches as evil. Were they? Definitely not all witches in my opinion. 

Why is the witch culture on a come back? I believe it is the reclaiming of feminine power and the balance our world needs. The feminine aspect in all genders is intuitive, nurturing, collaborative, communal and creative. Our institutions need more of this energy. It’s wonderful there are more women in powerful positions than there have been in a while. 

I also like the goddess movement. For me this is more about remembering you have a divine, unity consciousness vibration. I have several friends who refer to their girlfriends as goddesses. I am called a goddess. I am a goddess. The goddess witch energy that is flowing through me now is creative goddess. Intuitive witch. Creatrix! Yes, this feel is aligned with my energy as I ender my moon, my period.
